Since its release in 2009, WIDE LOAD® has become the benchmark in wide fitting extra depth safety footwear. Designed and developed in Sydney Australia in collaboration with leading orthopaedic/custom made shoemakers and Podiatrists*, the WIDE LOAD® last is based on 6E fitting profile with an additional 8mm of volume of forefoot girth. The perfect foot is hard to find, and some say one does not really exist. It is true however, that some injuries and foot trauma is more likely to be associated with incorrectly designed or poorly fitted safety footwear.
Wide Load boots are designed and manufactured with a wide profile steel/composite cap that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of those with wide feet, it is 12-15mm wider and 5mm higher than the industry ‘standard’, thus facilitating the fitting of custom-made orthotics and more importantly, challenging feet. The anatomically designed forefoot provides an additional 15% “footprint” compared to the industry standard.
This additional surface area combined with the self-cleaning cleat design outsole provides maximum stability and enhanced slip resistance. Walking can increase ground forces by up to 3 times body weight. The Wide Load bevelled heel strike and heel cushion zone helps reduce shock and lessen the effects of these forces on the body. The foot is a complex structure containing 26 bones, a network of muscles, joints and ligaments. A fiberglass shank in all Wide Load boots is incorporated to enhance torsional rigidity and support in the waist of the boot. The shank also assists the forefoot to flex in the correct position. The new airport-friendly composite cap range is slightly lighter than its steel cap counterpart and incorporates high-performance ‘nylon6’ non-metallic lace hardware. The cap provides less transmission of hot and cold while achieving “steel-like” safety for impact and compression. The cap meets all safety standards without compromising comfort.
